Pumpkin Bread

3 C sugar

1 C vegetable oil

4 eggs, beaten

2 C pumpkin puree

3-1/2 C all purpose flour

2 teaspoons baking soda

2 teaspoons salt

1 teaspoon baking powder

1 teaspoon nutmeg

1 teaspoon ground allspice

1 teaspoon cinnamon

½ teaspoon ground cloves

2/3 C water


Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.  Butter and flour two 9 x 5 inch loaf pans and set aside.

Mix the sugar and oil.  Add the eggs and pumpkin and mix well.

Sift together the dry ingredients.  Add alternately to the batter with water.

Pour into prepared pans and bake for 1-1/2 hours or until a tester inserted in the center comes out clean.  Let cool in pans for 10 minutes then turn out and cool completely before slicing.

Serve on it’s own or with cream cheese.

Makes 2 loves.
